Our Story
John Zarlengo Sr. visited his cousins who owned an asphalt business in New Castle, Pennsylvania when he was 16 years old. That gave him an idea and dream that he implemented when he and his two brothers, Gene and Ed, started Zarlengo Brothers Asphalt in 1948. John used to talk about only doing 12 jobs that first year, but he did not give up. John Zarlengo Asphalt Paving sprung out of this partnership in 1971. John persisted and worked hard to continue developing an exemplary asphalt business that is now 75 years strong. His passionate commitment to excellence in workmanship and use of quality materials remain the marks of John Zarlengo Asphalt Paving today. He passed down these same values to his sons Paul and John Jr., and son in law Ed McMahon, who continue to lead and pave the way with John Zarlengo Asphalt Paving today.
